Sun wah

Location: Uptown Chicago, Illinois
Date: April 4, 2010

This is TRULY the place to go for barbecue-Chinese food.  Sun Wah was recommended by my very good friend, Janice, when my friends and I came over to Chicago to attend my best friend's baby shower.  I'm quite surprised to see a modern interior design with track lighting and red bricks.  There's still the usual roasted ducks hanging by the restaurant's window, big round tables for large parties, buddhas, etc. What really makes this place different is the glass ceiling which makes the room very open and light.

There's 5 of us in the party, 2 males, 3 females.  We tend to splurge and order more than we can handle in this type of setting so we kept in mind to just focus on one dish per kind.  We got the roasted duck that Janice highly recommended, pan fried spareribs, duck soup, some veggies and of course, rice.  The roasted duck was UNBELIEVABLE!  It was the best roasted duck I've ever had.  Very juicy, tasty and the skin is so crispy without all the oil.  You will forget your name, promise!

My next favorite is the pan fried ribs.  It's sooo crispy too.  Even the duck soup is the best of its kind.  It's very tasty and thick, perfect for the cold, Chicago weather.  And my most favorite thing, the prices are amazing!

Of course, as expected, we left with bigger tummies like buddhas (I think they put buddhas as warnings), we can barely get up and walk.  Drinking gallons of hot tea might help the indigestion.  But yeah, its all worth the added pounds!
